The Project

We had to create an iPhone, as well as, an Android app that becomes a money saving resource for college students. The app needed to offer a user friendly and interactive way to users for accessing some great on campus deals and opportunities that allowed them to save money. This app had to specifically cater to the needs of students who want to receive deals on the go, the kind of deals that can be purchased and redeemed on an immediate basis.

The Challenges

  • We had to design and develop Web Services using existing code and database of the client
  • Ensuring the consistency design and functionality of the Android and iPhone apps
  • Offering a variety of features like impulse deals, weekly deals and a host of others
  • Payment gateway integration and cart management for enabling users to choose their deals and make the payment easily and conveniently
  • Syncing the clock with the app and server so that start of deal and its end time is the same on both the server and the app

Also, the client was particular about each and every aspect of the app, and to meet the clients expectations every step of the way, was a challenge in itself.

The Solution

Our focus on offering an extremely user-friendly experience to the app’s end users allowed us to create an app that college students can use effortlessly. More importantly, we ensured that we got each and every design element as well as, functionality preapproved by the client; we even sought approval for the font from the clients, before it was used in the app. This ensured that we were on the same page as our client, every step of the way. Also, in order to guarantee the seamlessness functionality of the app and the exchange of data taking place on it, we made certain changes to the client’s existing database. We also implemented push notification and webs services on the client’s server. More importantly, it was our focus on maintaining the integrity of both the iPhone and Android app that allowed us to maintain design and functional consistency. At the end of the day, we delivered an app that brought the client’s deal driven concept to life, in its entirety.
